Asian part of the TCR International Series continues this weekend in Singapore

Press Release no. 16, 14. September 18:15, Singapore

The TCR International Series is slowly coming to the final, with just three Asian race weekends left. Race in Singapore and in Sepang will be held as a part of the F1 weekend, what not only brings a chance to show the skills in front of a wide audience, but there is also several drawbacks, not only for the drivers but for the whole team as well.

The TCR International Series Caravan is moving to Singapore after the short, 3 weeks long break, where it will be a guest on the world class event – F1 Championship. Racing amongst this kind of series has not only bright sides… “It’s not ideal – thanks to the full schedule of F1, we have only one Free Practice instead of 2 – at least it is 10 minutes longer – 40 mins in total. It is a shame, as on this kind of track you need to find the balance between aggression and sensitivity. I am not afraid, as I have done big steps working on the simulator.”, said Mato.

He adds: “It’s really an honor for me to be part of the racing weekend with the highest level of motorsport – the F1 Championship, already the second time this year. In two weeks we will have the last joint race with the F1 in Sepang. There we have only one 30 minutes long training. It makes the situation a little harder, as I have never raced on these tracks.”

The race on the 5 km long circuit will be really challenging, as the city circuit forgives no mistake. “No safety zones, hard walls. That’s Singapore. I’m sure, that there will be a lot of close fights, door to door. It will be necessary to show strong fighting spirit.”

You can follow the race live on the TCR YouTube channel, facebook fan page, or www.tcr-series.tv.
