Mato Homola returns to the TOP 5 of TCR after the Singapore races

Successful weekend for Mato Homola on Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore, P2 in the Qualifying, P4 in the Race 1 and a P5 in the Race 2 starting from the P9!
There were many changes after the Qualifying, as the stewards punished 12 drivers for not respecting track limits in the session. Mato had a great run with P3, but thanks to Morbidelli’s penalty ended on the P2 and he was the fastest of the SEATs.
Mato dropped to the P5 after the race start, but immediately in the first lap overtook Nash and got to the P4. “I knew, I had to attack as soon as possible, so I used the first chance and it worked.”
The whole race was really equal and Mato kept his position till the end of the race. He had to slow down in the last two laps. “I felt light skids in the right corners, I had to slow down a bit, but it was quite safe, as the gap was rather safe. While I was going under the chequered flag, my front left tire just blew up in a puncture, so I was really lucky. I am really happy with the P4, as last two racing weekends were really a nightmare for me.”
Race 2 was held in really hot weather, as the temperatures reached 35 degrees. Mato had much better start than in the previous race, although he dropped to the P10. There was a contact between him and the Gleason, while Mato was trying to overtake him and Gleason span, but Mato continued on the P9. There were few more contacts what resulted in the Safety car on track and Mato climbed to the P5.
Another collision made the Safety car come out again in the lap 8, but 25 minutes limit for the race was almost over and the race was finished with the safety car on the track.
„It was really challenging weekend. I’m really happy to be back in the TOP 5. Even though the first place is still a little far away, but there are still 2 more races to go and anything can happen. I would like to thank all the fans, partners, my family and the whole B3 racing team for their effort.”, said Mato after the race.
Next racing weekend is on the plan together with the F1 in Sepang, Malaysia, in 2 weeks.
