Mato has just begun his first kilometers in TCR International Series at Bahrain International Circuit. On Thursday, Mato did a Track walk with his team engineer. However, on Friday Mato had two practices, where he focused mostly on the racing line, remembering the track and the car setup.
In the Practice 1, Mato had around 25 minutes to try out his new SEAT Leon Cup Racer and Bahrain International Circuit. “We are right in the Bahrain desert and as expected the track was a bit dirty – you can’t get ready for it, without driving here,” said Mato. The team has found out, that it is necessary to work more on the car setup for Practice 2. Mato has finished on 5th position in Practice 1.
Following the Practice 1, the team has radically changed the setup and parts used for braking. Therefore, Mato had to drive be a bit slower in the first part and then he started pushing harder. However, there were many yellow flags and an accident of teammate Atilla Tassi end up in a red flag. Unfortunately, due to the tight timing and Formula 1 races, there was no chance to drive more.
We gonna try to use the knowledge of our experienced team and team engineers to get the fastest car for tomorrow qualifying session, which starts at 12:00 PM CET.
