First practice wet and great result in the second practice
Friday on the Circuito Estoril was dedicated to Free Practice 1. This weekend is really attractive for the spectators, as they can find various races here: European F3 Open, Radical European Master, International GT Open, CN Classicos+Legends cup, SEAT Leon Eurocup and finally TCR International Series.
The team has focused on Thursday and Friday on proper setup of all three racing cars. Together with Mato they have prepared several setups, which might be good for the race on Sunday. We also went with Mato’s car to the race marshals to see, whether the weight is in line with the rules and also for the clearance measurement to check, if we comply with mandatory minimal height of 80 mm.
FP1 hasn’t started in the best possible way, as it started to rain 5 minutes before the beginning. We planned to test several setups and to adjust the brakes, but the track was not wet enough for the rain tires and not dry enough for the slicks. So we have done just 4 laps to adjust the brakes.
FP2 on Saturday brought very quick times from the very beginning. First it was Dušan Borković with the time 1:48.837 and he went to the first position. The others started to speed up and Mato made his fastest lap in his second quick lap and jumped to the P3, with 1:49.004 – just 0,167 from Dušan. Pepe Oriole squeezed in between, with the time of 1:48.996.
„I am very happy with the car, we have adjusted some things and it worked really well,“ said Mato. „I am happy with the time and looking forward to qualification,“ he adds.
