Pole position on the third race of TCR International Series in Estoril!
Big success in Estoril, Portugal. We can say that we have the first Slovak ever on the pole position of prestigious international series TCR.
Mato Homola had third best time in the 1st qualification but he knew, that it could be better. “My driving in the Q1 was not as good as I can and I felt, that I have place to improve,” he said. Q2 includes 12 best drivers of the Q1. After the start Mato was sure, that he needs to do the fast lap as soon as possible. “When I left for Q2 I wanted to make the quick lap as early as it was possible, as the tires don’t last more than 2 laps in perfect condition,” said Mato.
And than success! Fastest lap from the 12 drivers in Q2: “I am so happy! It is unbelievable. When I got back to pits I knew that I am on the P1, but there was still 5 min left. But then it worked out! I got a Pole!”said Mato.
This is not only my result but also hard work of mechanics, which had a lot of work in the last days, as we tried a lot of setups. “I would like to thank the team, family and my girlfriend Linda for support and of course the partners.”
The first race tomorrow starts at 11:25, don’t miss it!
