TCR International Series caravan has moved for its third racing weekend to Belgium, Spa- Francorchamps. Beautiful nature, one of the longest tracks in Europe and at the same time Matos favourite track.
Joint race with World Endurance Championship (WEC) and Porsche GT3 Cup brings great sounds of GT, LMP1 and TCR cars to the circuit, what creates a perfect atmosphere.
For TCR International Series there is 2 Free Practice on the plan. Mato entered the first one with the goal to test the setup, which might be good for the track, but at the same time ha was driving on old tires. Teams are allowed to use only 10 new tires for the weekend and the car, so good economy with them is very important. „I really like this track, which is like Estoril old and there is not much place for mistakes. Legendary Eau Rouge is simply incredible,“ said Mato. „The car was oversteering a lot, mainly in the fast corners, what we need to change. I went out of the track once, but luckily it was on the tarmac run out zone, so nothing happened to the car. We changed some things and let’s see what will come in FP2.“
At the beginning of the FP2, the team has focused on setting up and preparing brakes for the Qualification and the race. Mato has started his fast laps afterwards. He succeeded to make the fastest time and got to the 1st place, but his young teammate Attila Tassi got over him soon. Hondas and SEATs of Lukoil racing team started their fast laps soon after this and went to the front. Matos time was at the end 7th best. „We have changed the setup just after the FP1 and we have eliminated oversteering behaviour of the car and I am now happy with it. Looking forward to the new tires, as we have been doing both practices on the old ones.“
