Mato Homola will represent Slovakia on FIA Motorsport Games 2019 Rome this weekend
You don’t want to miss it. One of the most successful Slovak racing drivers these days, Mato Homola, will fight on the upcoming „Olympic games“ of motorsport from this Friday.
This very special event is like no other, not only for the drivers but for the fans as well. Motorsport games include the following disciplines: GT Cup, Touring Car Cup, Formula 4 Cup, Drifting Cup, Karting Slalom Cup, Digital Cup. And Slovakia will have its fighter! Mato Homola, who was competing in the TCR Europe series this year, will represent Slovakia in his category, Touring Car Cup. He will be driving Hyundai i30 N TCR prepared by the Italian BRC Racing Team, a team racing in FIA WTCR with four cars.
The first three drivers in each category are not racing for the cups, as usual, but for the medals, similar to athletic competitions. Another difference is, that the competitors are not representing the team, but the country – this will be visible on the suits, or on the cars.
There are no games without the opening ceremony. This one will be held close to the famous Colosseum in Rome. The spectators can expect a spectacular car parade from the attending drivers, with Mato Homola being chosen as one of the drivers attending the parade.
Mato, as the only driver representing Slovakia in the Touring Car Cup, will compete with other top drivers from all around the world – not only from FIA WTCR or TCR Europe but from other TCR regional series as well. Cooperation with the BRC Racing Team is very promising for Mato: „This is a really great opportunity, I am really happy for. I didn’t race on the Vallelunga circuit before, but the BRC team is really helpful with their experience. The track is really quick and I think, it should be good for me,“ says Mato and he adds: „I am looking forward to the opening ceremony and the car parade, it will be truly spectacular. I will do my best to bring the most beautiful medal home!“
You know the racing format from the TCR Europe – Friday is dedicated to free practice sessions and the Saturday is for qualifying and the race 1. The big difference though happens on Saturday – there will be two qualifying sessions, the first sets the starting grid for the race 1 and the second for the race 2. Both of the sessions will be 30 min. long. The first race of the weekend starts shortly after lunch, it will be 25 min. + 1 lap. Points will be awarded to the TOP 10 only. The second race, happening on Sunday, is a bit different. it is 30 min. + 1 lap long, with TOP 15 awarded with the points. The title of FIA Motor Sport Games: Touring Car Cup-Winning Driver will be awarded to the driver who has scored the highest number of points, taking into consideration all the results obtained during the two Races.
