Homola moves to Hill Climb Races, aiming to follow in his father’s footsteps
Top Slovak racing driver Maťo Homola, after years of success in global and European circuit championships, will compete in the 2025 Slovak Hill Climb Championship. The Homola name returns to the Slovak hills after nearly 15 years. The 30-year-old driver hopes to build on the legacy of his father, Jaro Homola, who was a 15-time Slovak champion in this discipline.
A Return to His Roots with Big Ambitions
“I’m returning to the roots of the Homola family—hill climb racing, where my father Jaro achieved his greatest successes. It’s a new discipline for me, and I’m really excited, especially since most of the tracks will be completely new. I’m also looking forward to being closer to Slovak fans across all regions of our country, much more than I could be on the circuits,” said Maťo Homola about this new career challenge.
The two-time TCR Eastern Europe champion believes he can build on his father’s success with the support of partners Hyundai and Orlen.
“I’ll do everything I can to make 2025 a successful year for me and my team. A big thank-you to my sponsors for their support and trust—especially Hyundai Slovakia, with whom I’m entering my seventh season, my new 2025 partner Orlen, and the BRP Motorsport team, who’ll be expertly preparing the car I know so well—the Hyundai i30 N TCR,” said Homola, also inviting all fans to the season’s first race, happening April 5–6 at the Slovakia Ring.
Seventh Season with Hyundai
After successful seasons in touring car series, including two TCR Eastern Europe titles, Homola is switching from the Elantra N TCR to the i30 N TCR. He remains loyal to the Hyundai brand, much to the delight of Hyundai Slovakia.
“For six years, we’ve experienced all the highs and challenges of circuit racing with Maťo and celebrated each success together. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership—this time in hill climbs. We believe this exceptional driver will attract even more Slovak motorsport fans to the hills and, with our support, build on his success in European championships,” said Marek Kopča, Marketing and PR Director of Hyundai Slovakia.
Strong Support from Orlen
Joining Homola in his 2025 title campaign is new partner Orlen Unipetrol Slovakia. The talented racer is now an official ambassador for the ORLEN brand and its premium VERVA fuels on both the Slovak and European markets.
“We believe in a strategic partnership that goes beyond the usual. In Maťo Homola, we see not just an exceptional sporting talent, but also a chance to strengthen our brand in terms of innovation, credibility, and growth. Our shared activities aim to bring ORLEN and the VERVA brand even closer to our customers, partners, and the community that values performance and quality. We’re confident this collaboration will yield long-term results,” said Matej Varga, Managing Director for Retail at ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia.
